Officer Wei's subordinate, Jian You, had the room key.
Ren Huaizhong remained at the performance throughout, while Xue Wujing returned to the room once to fetch a fox fur coat for Ren Huaizhong.
Officer Wei went back to his room at 21:15, dismissed the servants, and was still singing opera in the room by 21:45.
Xue Wujing returned to the room to fetch a fox fur coat sometime between 21:15 and 21:45.
There were two keys to Officer Wei's room one held by Officer Wei and the other by Jian You, who had kept his on him at all times.
At around 21:00, Jian You was drinking at a tavern. No one could verify his whereabouts after he returned to his room until Ren Huaizhong sent someone to fetch the key at 22:15.
Jian You passed out drunk after 21:30. When he came to, he found himself in his room, clutching a bloody blade.
No outsiders were spotted near Officer Wei's residence that night, confirming that the killer remains within Wu'an Village.
