During the Xining years, when I first arrived at Sanqing Mountain, cranes gathered in flocks, staying through all four seasons. There was also a stone crane statue prominently on the peak. Locals considered it a divine symbol, saying that when cranes die they transform into mountain stones but this is not true.
When I investigated the matter and found a notebook inside the stone crane, I finally learned its secret. I then searched the cave passage and discovered a partial scroll containing the arts of the Five Elements, Eight Trigrams, and the Flying Star of the Nine Palaces. Much time has passed, and only seven out of ten parts remain.
The Milky Way shines bright, never exhausted through the ages, while those by the flowing water all pass away unnoticed. Now, remembering their dedication, I have repaired the incomplete scroll to share with future generations.
